Oingo Boingo didn’t seem very cool to me in elementary school. I had the “Only A Lad” cassette and never once listened to it. Their soundtrack tunes “Weird Science” and “Dead Man’s Party” were pretty cool when I was in high school. I really started liking their music after high school and ended up buying a few of their CDs, their greatest hits and their double “Farewell” concert from the Universal Amphitheatre on VHS tape. That’s one of the best recorded concerts I’ve ever watched.
Seeing this band was probably the closest I’ll ever get to the real band. With a bunch of former members, it’s the real deal. A reunion would be awesome, but this was an incredible show and this band rocks. With several original members and Johnny Vato’s son on bass, and incredible horn section and a fantastic set list this show completely rocked. And the singer, Chris Paul Overall, was fantastic, too.
